Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate)

Heartless - Gail Carriger Very funny and full of action, with a climax that will be hard to top in future books. I found the previous book (Blameless) to be a bit meandering, but Ms. Carriger is back on track with this one. Vampires, werewolves, giant mechanical octopi, and an eight-and-a-half-month pregnant Alexia, Lady Maccon, "waddling fiercely" all over London in an attempt to save the Queen, settle a lethal child custody dispute (of sorts), and console Biffy, a very reluctant werewolf - what's not to like?

I'm very sparing with my 5-star ratings, but I would definitely give this 4-1/2, if the site would let me!
