The Pleasures of Reading in an Age of Distraction

The Pleasures of Reading in an Age of Distraction - Alan Jacobs A wonderful little book of short essays on various aspects of reading - the pros and cons of e-readers (this author finds that his Kindle has improved his concentration), the value (or lack thereof) of reading lists, the various reasons for reading, and of course, the effects of the internet and the myriad of other distractions that fill our days.

Very insightful, enjoyable and thought-provoking, as well as refreshingly lacking in snobbery about "good" literature vs. "trash."
